What the site offers

• A guide to all 78 tarot cards: upright and reversed meanings, keywords, love, career, money and health readings, a yes-or-no leaning, and element and astrological correspondences for each card.
• Free single-card and three-card (past · present · future) spreads, a daily card and a yes-or-no tarot tool. No account is needed.
• Reference pages: a tarot birth card calculator, zodiac signs and their tarot cards, and Major Arcana card combinations.
• Optional AI-assisted readings with a small free daily allowance, and a paid Premium plan for heavier use.
• An open dataset of anonymous draw statistics, published under CC BY 4.0.
• Five languages: English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Spanish and French.

Where the card meanings come from

The meanings follow the traditional symbolism of the Rider–Waite–Smith deck, designed by A. E. Waite and illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith (first published in 1909), as it is commonly read today. They are written for this site and kept consistent across all five languages.

Astrological correspondences follow the system of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Birth cards use the numerology method popularised by Mary K. Greer. Each card’s yes-or-no leaning is an editorial reading of its traditional upright meaning, and the full table is published on the Yes or No Tarot page so it can be checked.

How cards are drawn

• Spreads are drawn on the server with a cryptographically secure random number generator; each card has a 30% chance of appearing reversed.
• The Yes or No tool draws one card with an even chance of upright or reversed.
• The daily card is chosen once per calendar day from a date-based seed, so it stays the same all day.
• Your question never changes which cards are drawn.

How AI readings work

AI readings are optional. They are generated by AI models running on Cloudflare Workers AI from your drawn cards, their positions and your question. They are not reviewed by a person before you see them.

Your question is used only to produce your reading and, if you are signed in, to save it in your history. It is not used by us or by Cloudflare to train models. See the Privacy Policy for details.

What tarot can and cannot do

Tarot readings here are for entertainment and self-reflection. They do not predict the future and are not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. If you are in crisis, please contact local emergency services or a crisis line.

Who runs the site

The Free Tarot is operated by SUN CHEN, an independent operator. Questions, corrections and feedback are welcome at support@thefreetarot.com; we typically reply within 2 business days. Card pages show the date they were last updated.
